Storytelling

I love to tell stories. I took a course from an accomplished writer, and she gave me a piece of advice that has served me well for, let's say, a good number of years. Her advice: "Wherever you are, be there."
I love to watch people, whether in line at the grocery store, or sitting in a mall, or at an airport gate. You might be surprised at all of the "characters" wandering around us.









Photography

Light, place and passing of time are the basis for a photograph.

When I walk around with my camera, I always have it in automatic mode. Some moments don't allow you to "fiddle" with your camera to get the right aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.

Sometimes you have only seconds to capture a photo with a story.


Memoir

Twice Chosen is the true story of one man's journey through two identities, two families, and a lifetime lived between them.

Part memoir, part detective story, it follows Robert from the farms of Williams, Iowa, through thirty years in the United States Navy, to the moment he finally stood face-to-face with the people who made him — and understood, at last, what it means to be chosen twice.
